Sample ANNOUNCEMENT - Public address at events and etc.
Amateur Radio Operators (also called HAMS) have provided behind-the-scenes
communications for todays event as a Public Service. HAM RADIO is THE
communications hobby.
HAMS communicate around the corner and around the world using various
methods including VOICE, MORSE CODE, RADIOTELETYPE, PICTURES (stills and
regular TV type, Black and White and color), COMPUTER DATA, AM, FM, and
more. There are even HAM RADIO SATELLITES for Amateur Radio operators to
communicate through free of charge.
HAMS are of all ages and come from all walks of life. Some are skilled
technicians and others are not technically oriented. Some spend a lot of
money on equipment while others find great used bargains and get on-the-air
inexpensively.
FOR REFERRAL TO AN AMATEUR RADIO CLUB in or near your town please write to
the American Radio Relay League, 225 Main Street, Newington, CT 06111. They
may also put you in touch with HAM helpers or HAM classes in your area to
make it even easier for you to get started. Like anything worthwhile, it
takes a little effort, but it will open new doors to fun and excitement.
Look into HAM RADIO for yourself and someone you know.
